The Ministry recognizes RWAs every year in 14 categories. One of these is the Best RWA for Water Mangement. The Award carries a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh and a citation.The Awards were given at a function on 25th February by Sri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State, Water Resources at a function held in Mavalankar Auditorium, Constitutional Club, New Delhi. The Awards Committee evaluated all details of the water management and conservation measures followed in the Colony.
Emphasis is on the Rain Water Harvesting Pits in the general area of the colony as well as in the individual houses and apartments. A Two Member Technical Committee had subsequently visited the colony and went through all these details.Apart from JR Nagar six other institutions from Andhra Pradesh were recognized for various awards under water management category.

Diverse Activities of Juhu Citizens' group
Since the focus of AGNI, Mumbai is on the Swachh Abhiyan campaign, the Juhu Citizens Welfare Group requested their Assistant Municipal Commissioner, Shri Prashant Gaikwad, to visit the Municipal school which is in a deplorable condition, with leaking water pipes and plaster which is flaking off.
He immediately called the concerned departments to take prompt action. A garden in Juhu next to the ISCKON Temple has a compost pit. We requested him to examine the pit along with the Solid Waste Management officers of the ward and suggested that the compost pit could also be used to collect the segregated garbage from neighbouring societies along with garden-waste for composting. Visitors to the beach, desperately need a few public toilets. A bio toilet block has been donated by Akshay Kumar, but has not been commissioned as yet. Mr. Gaikwad inspected the pit and promised to get it functioning.
To celebrate the birth centenary of Kaifi Azmi, a drawing competition was held in the Kaifi Azmi garden. The Juhu Citizens Welfare Group collaborated with Shabana Azmi and encouraged six schools to participate in the competition.
A unique event 'The Bond of Togetherness' was conceptualised and held under the auspices of AGNI'S R/N JAAG. We decided to begin the year 2019 by inviting the present and retired staff of the BMC of our ward and felicitate them for the services rendered to the community. Each member of the BMC was presented with a citation, a sapling and a rose as a token of appreciation from the citizens of the ward. The BMC officials, present and retired, represented the entire spectrum from the Estate Manager to the Assistant Municipal Commissioner to the Complaints Officer! About 23 JAAG members attended the event. Each invitee recalled nostalgically the days when they worked with various NGOs. The event was remarkably successful due to its leitmotif of appreciation and positivity.

Swachh Bharath Programme at Nagarjuna Nagar Colony, Tarnaka
To continue to uphold the spirit of Swachh Bharath, a rally was taken out in the colony by the residents / students/ senior citizens with placards and banners educating public about separating dry and wet waste and not to use of plastic bags. Sri. Ravi Kumar, Deputy Commissioner GHMC, North Zone along with medical officer Sri. D. Ravinder Goud, participated and visited a few shops and establishments, institutions to urge them to keep the environment clean, hygienic and not to use plastic bags below 90 micron.The rally gathered in the GHMC park St.no.14, lane no.1, where interaction was held with the residents and officials. In the park M/s. Green Rich Grow India Pvt. Ltd, represented by Mr. B. Sureshan, Chennai displayed home composters machines of different capacities, ranging from 20 liters, 50 ltrs, 120 ltrs, 250 liters suitable for home, community and institutions. They demonstrated process flow of kitchen waste into organic manure, which can be used for garden. This is creating wealth from waste garbage.

Uma Nagar Residents Welfare Association held its AGM on the 3rd of Feb 2019. Gen. Secy. Mrs. Padma Balachandran presented a report on the activities of the colony. The President, Capt. Sharma has been a pillar of support for the entire colony. His natural flair for management takes care of the URWA. On the cultural front, the theme was suggested by Mrs. Shashi Sharma, The Festivals of India ,which was written meticulously, by Mrs. Sanghamitra Malik, and managed very well by Mrs. Sita Alluri and Mrs. Padma Balachandran. The programme was a great success with almost around 70 participants from the community. The talks by some members highlighted the feeling of oneness that prevails in Uma Nagar. The skit also showcased the family feeling felt by the residents. It culminated with a sumptuous dinner for a gathering of about almost 200 people.
