“Senior citizens have an important role to play in educated residents in colonies and apartment complexes on issues like waste segregation and help GHMC in its Swach Sarvekshan drive,” the Commissioner said addressing representatives of various senior citizen associations in the twin cities on December 29.
The meeting, which was attended by a large number of representatives from various senior citizens associations, was facilitated by GHMC Additional Commissioner Mr Bhaskaracharyulu and Mr Manohar.
Mr. Bhaskaracharyulu felt senior citizens were best suited as they were respected by all and they can easily convince and counsel residents on cleanliness and inspire others.
Mr Manohar elaborated on the swach programmes of the GHMC and urged the participants to heed the suggestion of the Commissioner to see that the dry and wet waste is separated at every house and to ensure that waste collectors follow the process correctly.
