The event was celebrated at the Recreation Center, Green Park Extension in the presence of more than 200 senior citizens.
Shri B.N. Pandey (94 yrs), Freedom Fighter associated with Azad Hind Sena founded by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was the chief guest.
On this occasion, two eminent poets Manoj Mishra Kaptan and Vinay Shukal Vinamer recited various patriotic poems. Shri Pandey shared his past memories with Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose who was known as a Man of Discipline. Many senior citizens recited patriotic songs. G.L.Gupta made everyone cheerful by the means of laughing exercise. Dr. Sumitra Singla also recited a bhajan including other members. J.R.Gupta extended greetings of Republic Day to all present and thanked all the guests. He also stressed the need to live with peace and harmony within the society and also briefed about protection of lonely senior citizens by Council from humiliations/abuses at the hands of their own children and others. Mrs. Manjula Aggarwal managed the stage.

Sri. Arjunkumar, Trust member of Navakala Kendram hoisted the flag in the presence of Sri. Santokh Sing, Dr. G.V. Rao, Y. Surya Prakash Rao, S. Soundareswar, Y. Nagaiah, Yadaiah, B. Papa Rao, Narasimha Rao, Rajendra Prasad, Satyanarayana, Sudarshan and others. Distribution of note books and biscuits are given to school children.

Gokulnagar RWA Annual Day Celebrations

Breaking tradition, the flag was hoisted by Smt Bharathi an active resident and participant in Gokulnagar welfare activities.
The evening started with prayer songs by Sri T Venkatadri, President, Who welcomed the residents and neighbouring colonies. There were programs by the children of the colony, patriotic songs by Kum. Mounika who got the first prize, Group dancing by Colony girls, Guitar performance by Master Visruth and Shriram, Veena performance by colony girls, and programs for elders. Sri. Venkateswara Rao , father of Sri Jagadeeswara Rao, at the age of 90 braving the cold recited poems from The Krishna Rayabharam, of Mahabharatam . The students of Abhinaya Kuchipudi, a popular dance school headed by Smt. Srilatha gave various performances. The occasion was also taken to facilitate the winners of innumerable awards in the national, state level and district level competitions in Fist Ball, Volley Ball and several other activities. It was a very colorful evening with more than 200 residents participating.
