Senior Citizens Welfare Association, Tanuku, W.G. District
The Association conducted the following programmes in the month of February:
- They have conducted four weekly medical mobile camps in addition to the medical camp at Sandhya Jyothi Old Age Home, serving the poor and immobile sick patients by carrying out medical checkup and supplying medicines free of cost at their door step.
- They conducted a mega medical camp on 18th Feb.( 3rd Sunday of every month) in coordination with Swetha Diagnostic Centre.
- Paid homage to late Dr. Bolla Bulli Ramaiah, a senior member of their association and a reputed person in the town. Ex-MLA Sri. Mullapudi Venkata Krishna Rao has attended the programme.
- The association conducted monthly general body meeting on 28th Feb. at their hall.
- Organised a lecture on 1.3.18 in Telugu on “ Amma-Nanna-Bhadyata ? –Bharama ?( Mother-Father: Responsibility or Burden?) by Sri. Siraj –Ur- Rehman, Hyderabad (President – Universal Islamic Research Centre, Hyderabad). ‘Ruju Margam’ Director Sri.Abdul Quayum, Co-ordinator Sri Ibrahim, I.G.-Sri Iqbal, CEO-Sri Jaheer and team have participated in the programme.
- Awareness programme on Yoga diet Control at their association building on 6/03, through yoga teacher of Patanjali Sri. Karri Srinivasa Reddy.

The Association under the leadership of their President Sri. G.Keseswara Rao, organized International Womens Day on 8.03.2018 wherein several prominent women of Tanuku, Smt. S.Manorama, V. Nagamani, V.Vasundara, Hymavathi, Principal of Gurajada Convent School, Smt.T.Sandhya and others have spoken on great women in India and all over the world. Several students attended the programme.
- On 16th March the Association conducted ‘Jayanthi’ of Late Sri. Potti Sree Ramulu who fought and sacrificed his life for the formation of Andhra Pradesh State. All the programmes have been conducted under the leadership of their President Sri. G. Keseswara Rao having coordination with the medical team of Dr. Hussain Ahmad, Dr. B. Venkatesharlu, Dr. VSN.Raju, Dr. V. Venkata Raju and others. Other members of the Association, Sri. P.P. Ranga Rajan, G.V. Bhaskara Rao, MSVK. Seshagiri Rao and other have extended their support to their President in conducting the above programmes.

The Forum conducted various programmes for ladies at Ahobil Mutt on 20th March on the occasion of the International Women’s Day. Dr Rohini , senior oncologist was the chief guest. Competition in Rangoli Arts Classical songs were held for senior citizens. Prizes were awarded to Super Senior Ladies as an encouragement by the organizers including the president sri. P.L. Narasimham and Secretary Sri. AVS Raghavan.

Affectionate Shelters for Senior Citizens
The first district Collector of the newly formed Mancheriyal in Telangana state, Sri.R.V. Karnan made a gesture to the senior citizens in the town by handing over a renovated building spending Rs. 20 lakhs to the Sunshine Day Care Centre for senior citizens. The area has been made green with lawn and flowering plants and provided with exercise (Gym) equipment suitable for senior citizens, TV, news papers, benches and chairs. About 500 people daily use the facility. The members express their gratitude to the District Collector for having given them courage and happiness. They conducted cultural and social programmes for recreation and service to the senior citizens.

In the Annual General Body meeting held on 12th March, 2018 at Pension Bhavan, Kodad, the following office bearers are elected unanimously for the period of 2018-2020 in presence of Sri. Ravella Seetharamaiah as Election Officer: Sri. Gaddam Narsaiah as President, Sri. M.Venkateshwara Rao as General Secretary and Sri.P.Jagan as Treasurer. Further, a core team is also elected with Sri. V. Satyanarayana, Sri. J. Koteshwara Rao , Sri. Md.Yousuf Khan, Sri. P.Kanthaiah, Sri. T. Rama Babu, Sri. V. Mattapalli Rao, Sri. B. George. Sri.R. Venkateshwarlu and Smt. Gayam Laxmi.
Sri. B.Veeraiah has presented a printed report of activities, highlighting several issues about senior citizens and their unbearable struggles about heath, shelter and even for food. It is felt that the senior citizens are not getting due respect and responsibilities form their sons and daughters.
The General body meeting discussed all the causes for the problems and it solutions. Sri. R. Seetharamaiah and others have described the 2007 Act and particularly its Article 41. The new body took office, as the election officer assisted the swearing in ceremony. Sri. Gaddam Narsiah expressed the hope that he would try his level best to solve the problems of the older persons, with the help of the executive body as team.

Pattana Senior Citizens Forum, Mahabubnagar
Conducted International Womens Day on March 18th at Sri. Rama Krishna Seva Samithi. Smt. Lakshmi Sekhar Presided over the function and other chief guests were the Principal of Govt. Medical College. Smt. Sunanda, and a retired teacher Smt. Venkata Lakshmi, who talked about the women power and the importance of woman in the society.
The Forum also conducted ‘ Kavi Sammelanam’ on 17th March on the occasion of Ugadi at the same venue, wherein the poets Sri. Lakshmana Goud, Venkateshwara Reddy, T. Subash Reddy, A.Narayana Reddy, Smt. Sri devi, Satyavati, Jamuna and others participated in the event.
In the above events, the organizers Sri.N.Nagabhushanam, M. Srisailam, G. Pandu Rangaiah, G. Jaya Ramulu, Smt. Sugunamma, Venkata Lakshmi and several other members have actively participated.

Senior Citizens Forum, Nizamabad
- The Forum went on tour from 6/3 to 8/3/18 to Mulukunoor Village, Warangal and Bhadrachalam. The village was famous for its Co-Operative, Rural Bank, Mahila Dairy, which are highly talked of for the development of the village. Later, they toured the historical places in Warangal and Sri Rama Temple at Bhadrachalam. All the members were happy and found their morale boosted.
- On 9.3.18 celebration of International Women’s Day. The District Welfare Officer for Women, Children, Disabled and Senior Citizens has arranged a meeting to all women in the Ambedkar Hall where the local MLA and Mayor and other women officers were present. The hon’ble M.L.A has explained in detail the benefits provided to women folk, such as, women empowerment, KCR kits, Kalyana Laskhmi, sanction of Double Bedroom Houses in the name of Women, Reservation in Local bodies etc. The Mayor in her speech also told that construction of urinals, distribution of sarees on the occasion of festivals, etc. The meeting was concluded with a vote of thanks by the Dist. Welfare Officer.
- On 16.3.18 the Forum celebrated the birthday of 4 members falling in the month of March, which was attended by a large gathering.
- On 18.3.208, Dr.M. Nagabhushanam, a noted industrialist of the Town felicitated 10 members of the Forum, aged 75 years on the occasion of Ugadi at Nikhil Sai International Hotel in the Town. The function was attended by Sri. B. Ganesh Gupta, Mayor, and commandant of 7th Battalion as chief guests with large gathering. A cultural programme was held and the programme concluded with refreshments to all the members present.

The Senior Citizens Welfare Association and govt. Pensioners Federation at Nalgonda have conducted a ‘Dharna’ before the Collector’s office demanding the govt. to fulfill requisites like 50% bus fare concession, separate queque line for senior citizens in OP at the Govt. hospitals, to allot funds exclusively for senior citizens etc. Sri.K. Bhoopal Reddy, TRS party in charge of Nalgonda assured them that he would take the problems of senior citizens to the Govt. The President of the association, Sri.S. Mallikarjun led the team and submitted a memorandum to the district Collector, Nalgonda.

The association and others have donated 200 kg. rice to the orphanage run by Sree Mathru Abhaya Foundation at Medipally on 17th March. Sri. G. Radha Krishna and Sri. V.Maddi Reddy contributed 50 kgs and 20 Kgs respectively.

Prerana an NGO at Ramanthapur, Hyderabad has undertaken a massive campaign to form Rain water-soaking pits all over their colony, particularly in the 25 new apartment buildings which have come up recently and not made the pits in spite of government urging all the residents. Er. Giri said the GM, HMWSSB and their staff are ready to give their suggestions to form the pits. He said that the details of the 25 apartment buildings in their colony would be furnished to the Water Board. Sri. Gopal Reddy, Laskhmi Narayana, Vithal Reddy, Smt. Shobha, Veeramani and others have actively taken part in this.
