Leading experts from civic authorities to share experiences and best practices at two-day conference

In a run-up to the sixth edition of the National RWA Conference, Dr Janardhana Reddy, Commissioner, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), released a brochure detailing the sessions and themes of the two-day meet of welfare associations from across the country.
Scheduled to be held in Hyderabad on November 24-25 the Conference is expected to bring together over 150 RWAs, often described as the “3rd Component of Sustainable Urban Development”, who will deliberate on the “Role of RWAs in Swachh Bharat”, as the umbrella theme.
Meeting the members of the Organizing Committee of the 6th NCRWA, on the occasion of the release of the brochure, Dr Reddy exchanged ideas on the conference theme and various sessions planned over the two days.
Members of the Organizing Committee comprising Mr. B T Srinivasan, Mr. KHS Sarma, Mr. V Rao, Sri K Vijayaprasad Reddy, Mr. K Raghavendra Rao, Mr. Govind, Mrs Anita Chavali, Mr. Karunakar and Mr. Khaled Shah participated in the meeting.
The 6th NCRWA revolves around six key topics:
- Swachh Bharat & RWA’s Role
- Solid Waste Management
- Urban Housing & RERA implementation
- Urban living, Transportation and Challenges
- Constitutional Recognition & Powers to RWAs
- Emerging trends in Civil Society
Given the focus of the conference, experience sharing will be a key element of the deliberations with Commissioners of various municipalities that participated in the Swachh Survekshan 2018 Rankings survey recently, expected to participate and elaborate on the strategies adopted to motivate RWAs to participate in the Swachh movement.
The National RWA Awards is a major draw for the Conference with municipal commissioners from cities like Indore, Surat, Pune etc. expected to nominate successful RWAs and their managers for the National Best Manager Awards and also to share their experiences through articles in the Conference Souvenir.
Still in its nascent stage RERA is a major focus at the Conference with its impact, importance and implementation expected to be discussed. Likewise urban living, particularly aspects of transportation and its challenges is a major topic where Mr. NVS Reddy, managing director, Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd., is being invited to speak.
A long pending demand of RWAs for constitutional recognition to them is expected to come up with officials of the Union Ministry of Urban Development also expected to participate.
Being organized by the United Federation of Resident Welfare Associations (UFERWAS), Hyderabad, in association with the Confederation of Residents Welfare Associations (CoRWA), the pan-India apex body of RWAs, the 6th NCRWA will be held the Tusker Institute Auditorium in Secunderabad.
The 5th edition of the NCRWA was held in Mumbai last year while Visakhapatnam hosted the 4th NCRWA.
