Doctors Day

Over 150 members of the community benefit from free medical camp

Tarnaka Women's Welfare Association conducted free Eye and Dental camps on July 1 2019 at Gokul Nagar grounds coinciding with the Doctors’ Day.

Nearly 150 members of the community availed the opportunity to benefit the free service that was offered by the Clove Dental Clinic and the Anand Eye Institute, which also run their clinics in the Tarnaka and Nagarjuna Nagar areas.

The role of doctors in society was acknowledged with gratitude on the day. July 1 is observed as the Doctor's Day in India to emphasize the value that doctors hold in our lives and in return to pay our respects for their selfless service to the society.

Doctors Day

The practice was started in 1991 when the Government of India earmarked July 1, which is both the birth day and death anniversary of renowned physician Dr. B C Roy.

Apart from being an eminent physician, Dr Roy was also an educationist, philanthropist, freedom fighter and politician who served as the Chief Minister of West Bengal from 1948 till his death in the year 1962. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, he highest civilian honour in India, in 1961.

Doctors and supportive members who participated in the event were felicitated by the Wopmen’s Association members. The smooth smooth conduct of the camp by the spirited volunteers was much appreciated by all. Devi, Swetha, Sirisha, Kalpana, Nimmi, Hymavati, Haritha, Sarada and Santha took part actively.
