Green Manifesto -2020 by URJA, New Delhi
In view of the upcoming election in New Delhi, Residents
Welfare Association URJA (United Residents Joint Action) released a public
manifesto on 23rd December.
URJA has emphasised on every single issue which the
residents of Delhi are facing, namely deteriorating air quality, water safety,
food safety, fire risks, legislation for clean electricity, access to public
transport, etc.
“These include many issues that have been
overlooked by the political parties and the Delhi government,” said Atul Goyal,
president of URJA. “We have not only pointed out problems but also suggested
solutions to them. We will present this public manifesto to the state
government and will request to include all these issues on their agenda of
governing system.” The people’s green manifesto for next five years of Delhi
has demanded from the government to make Delhi sustainable in its resources by 2025. it is a fact that air pollution, with every
passing year, is turning a threat for people, the government was yet to
initiate any long-term solution to bring relief to the people.

Times Connect Malkajgiri
The
Times of India, Hyderabad has conducted a ‘Times Connect Malkajgiri’ program on
15th December, Sunday at Hotel Taj Mahal, Malkajgiri. The RWA
representatives had ventilated their grievances in this unique
public-government interface with concerned senior government representatives,
political leaders, civic authorities, and the law enforcing agencies in
attendance.
Eminent
persons like Sri Reventh Reddy garu, MP, Sri Ramachandra Rao garu, MLC, Ms Raksheeta Murthy, IPS, Dy Commissioner of
Police, Sri Narsimha Reddy, GHMC Zonal Commissioner Sri B Srinivas Reddy, Sri T. Dasharath, Dy Commissioner, Sri M Swamy, Hyderabad Water Board Director
(Projects), Sri Venkanna, SCR Senior
Divisional Commerical Manager, Sri Brijesh Tripathi, an Secunderabad Cantonment
Board official attended the meeting and answered to the Malkajgiri Residents'
grievances. Hope some of the issues raised by RWAs will get addressed soon with
this meeting.
Present
are the representatives of 300 Malkajgiri & Alwal RWAs, and the UFERWAS
team members Mrs Anita Chavali, Sri Vijayaprasad Reddy garu, Sri Raghavendra
Rao garu and the teachers of the RWA-run
Vivekananda School. The organisers thanked the Times of India, Hyderabad
Resident Editor, Sri Robin David, Asst Resident Editor Sri Bapa Mujumdar and
their team for highlighting their issues. Special thanks are proposed to the
Taj Mahal group Executive Director Sri Praveen Rao garu for all the help he
extended for the meeting.

Cityzen Best RWA Awards by APFERWAS
1. CiTyzen Best RWA Awards Function is
held on Saturday, 14 Dec.2019 at Dr.YVS Murthy Auditorium, AU College of
Engineering, Visakhapatnam. About 20 Awards under 3 categories Platinum
(Rs.40000), Gold (25,000) Silver (15,000) and Special Award (10,000) are given
to the Best Performed RWAs of the city of Visakhapatnam for the year 2019.
The decision-making process of the award winners took nearly six months and phased it into two stages. In the first stage all the RWAs were asked to submit proof of the status of their colony in respect to Clean and Green, Waste Segregation, Rain Water Harvesting, and the general appearance of the colony. The shortlisted applications were given about five months to carry out programs on the above issues and two awareness programs on waste segregation and RWH. Both the First and Second Stage Applications were submitted to the sponsors of the Awards Viz., Ananda Cityzen, who with the help of the external judges selected the Platinum, Gold, Silver and Special category winners. The entire process was carried out by a Team of six Zonal Coordinators apart from the members of EC of APFERWAS.
2. The Annual General Council of APFERWAS is held in the afternoon of 14th Dec., after the awards function, in which the RWAs of not only Visakhapatnam but also from Vijayawada, Nellore, Kurnool and Kakinada have participated.
3. Visit of the
Commissioner, GVMC, Visakhapatnam, Dr. G Srijana, IAS to an onstage function
organised completely by the women fraternity of the JR Nagar colony. A concrete example of women
empowerment.
