APFERWAS observes Doctors’ Day


Solicits Guidelines for Covid-19 from Medical Experts

The Andhra Pradesh Federation of Residents Welfare Associations (APFERWAS) in association with Prajarogya Vedika, Visakhapatnam organised an interactive session with eminent medical professions, on Sunday, 21st June, to mark the Doctor’s Day.

Given the current pandemic situation the topic of discussion was understandably focused on guidelines to be followed control the spread of the Coronavirus.

This program was coordinated by Sri AV Ramana Rao, General Secretary, APFERWAS and Sri T.Kameswara Rao, Secretary, Prajarogya Vedika.

Dr.K.V.V.Vijay Kumar, Superintendent, Govt. Chest Hospital, Visakhapatnam, Dr. P.A.Ramani, President, Indian Medical Association, Visakhapatnam Chapter and Dr. Y. L. Narasinga Rao, FOZCI, Prof. Gynecology, A.M.C. participated in the interaction.


Given the Covid-19 restrictions the participation was limited to a few members who maintained strict social distancing and other precautions necessary. They included Sri AV Ramana Rao, general Secretary, APFERWAS, Visakhapatnam, Sri P Lachi Raju, Coordinator, Zone II, Sri a Kailasa Rao EC Member and Sri G V Ramana Treasurer, APFERWAS apart from Sri T Kameswara Rao of Prajarogya Vedika, Visakhapatnam.
  
At the outset, APFERWAS and PrajarogyaVedika expressed their deep sense of gratitude to the medical professionals for their invaluable services being rendered during this crucial COVID19 period. The interactive discussion was followed by the presentations by the three doctors.


The following are the guidelines given by the medical fraternity to the govt. authorities and to the public in general, to tackle the COVID19.

  1. Govt should undertake vigorous awareness campaign among citizens on Corona Virus infection and precautions, using all means of communication.
  2. Govt should ensure strict implementation of the three steps of S M S (Social Distancing – Mask – Sanitization) by the people.
  3. COVID treating Hospitals are to be placed in one particular area instead different locations.
  4. Separate Hospitals to be earmarked for COVID treatment of health care providers viz., doctors, nurses and paramedical staff which will boost up their morale and helps them join duty immediately after the treatment.
  5. As COVID virus will exist till vaccine is invented separate COVID Hospital with full infrastructure to be provided in all Districts.
  6. Suitable campaign methods to be chosen as per the pandemic condition prevailing in those areas.
  7. RWAs should take up special responsibility of campaigning the precautions and ensuring their implementation in their Colonies.
  8. Special sanction of funds for pandemic treatment is to be made on war footing.
  9. More tests are to be done.
  10. Proper reserve to be maintained of doctors and paramedical personnel. All available medical staff should not be exposed at one time.
  11. More number of quarantine centres to be identified including VMRDA Stadium, PM Palem, etc., with all necessary arrangements.
  12. Three tier hospital facility to be made available to the COVID patients as per their affordability to lower, middle and higher income groups.
  13. Treatment for non-COVID patients to be made available at all levels uninterruptedly. Health network to be developed taking into confidence the civil society groups, NGOs and other voluntary organisations.
  14. Providing sufficient PPE Kits to Doctors, Nurses and health care workers.
  15. Vigorous campaign at all public places, buses, residential colonies etc., by using public address system on the three S M S steps.
  16. As per the experts the Pandemic will be reaching its peak somewhere in November, more private hospitals are to be entrusted with COVID treatment duty. Those hospitals may be given some tax concessions.
  17. Special emphasis to be made on campaign in slums where social distancing is difficult
